Kia Sonet 2026 Compact SUV Gets More Affordable Automatic Variants and New Updates

Kia Sonet 2026 New MY26 update brings cheaper automatic options, colour and premium features

The Kia Sonet 2026 continues to strengthen its position in India’s competitive compact SUV segment with the latest 2026 model year (MY26) update. With new automatic variants, updated styling options and feature-rich interiors, the Sonet is aiming to attract more buyers who want convenience, technology and sporty design in a compact package.

One of the biggest highlights of the 2026 update is the introduction of more affordable automatic variants. Kia has added Kia Sonet 2026 automatic transmission options to lower trims, allowing buyers to get an automatic Sonet for under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The company introduced the HTE (O) variant with a 6-speed automatic and a turbo-petrol version with a 7-speed DCT, expanding choices for customers who prefer an easier driving experience in city traffic.

This move reflects the growing demand for automatic cars in India, especially in urban areas where traffic congestion makes manual driving tiring. By offering automatic gearboxes in more affordable variants, Kia is targeting young buyers and first-time SUV customers who want modern technology without spending too much.

Along with the new variants, Kia has also introduced a new “Magma Red” colour option, giving the Sonet a more vibrant and sporty appearance. The SUV already stands out with its bold design that includes LED headlamps, signature DRLs, a muscular front grille and sporty alloy wheels, all of which help it compete strongly with rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza.

Features

Inside the cabin, the 2026 Sonet remains one of the most feature-packed SUVs in its category. The SUV offers a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and connected-car technology. Premium features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging, cruise control and a Bose sound system further enhance the driving experience.

Performance

Under the hood, the Sonet continues to offer multiple engine options to suit different driving needs. Buyers can choose from a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission choices include manual, intelligent manual (iMT), torque-converter automatic and dual-clutch automatic options, making the Sonet one of the most versatile SUVs in its segment.
